The Big Poster Challenge - Winning Entry

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled around London over the coming weeks for these very distinctive and thought-provoking billboard posters launched this week in support of ‘Mindfulness’, a campaign by the Mental Health Foundation.
The posters are the winning entries of an exciting competition launched earlier this year in which the nation’s creative types were invited to propose their ideas for a poster campaign to help build awareness to this extremely worthwhile campaign. Mindfulness aims to increase awareness of the stresses and pressures of modern day living and to offer support and simple, modern techniques to help overcome these problems.
The Mental Health Foundation, LPA (Lisa Pritchard Agency) and Clear Channel Outdoor teamed up to launch the competition and Direct supported the event by supplying lighting equipment for the final production shoot, while LYJ helped out with the digital kit and operator. The winning entry, submitted by Will Thacker and Blake Waters of Hoxton based KesselsKramer London, was produced by LPA and shot by Rob Murray, one of their leading commercial photographers.

AOP Assistants Award: Mike Whelan wins £500 Direct prize

In our ongoing support of the Association of Photographers, Direct offered £500 in credit to the winner of the recent AOP Assistants Award, held at their headquarters in Leonard St. London. The quality of the entries was, in our modest opinion, extremely high and Mike was voted overall winner. He plans to use the £500 credit at Direct on lighting for a shoot of portraits for a government body but as its still all being confirmed at the moment he can’t say more about it just yet!
